According to Bridgeport Police, the body was discovered in Bunnell's Pond around 11:20 a.m. Thursday by a passerby who saw the body floating in the partially frozen water.
Temperatures were frigid as Bridgeport firefighters pulled the body from the water and police confirmed the individual was dead when recovered.
The body was taken by the Medical Examiner's Office who will determine a cause of death and help identify the individual.
Police declined to say if the body was a man or a woman and said an investigation was underway.
The pond feeds into the Pequonnock River.
